The quality label issued by the Swedish TCO for office equipment, including monitors, laptops, keyboards, printers and fax machines, is of great interest. Manufacturers can have their devices tested (in return for payment) by the TCO, in conjunction with The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, NUTEK (The National Board for Industrial and Technical Development in Sweden) and SEMKO AB, with a view to gaining the coveted TCO label. The manufacturers and their items of equipment which have qualified for this quality label can be found on the website. For the TCO’99 certification, requirements and test methods were drawn up for an environmental label for traditional ‘CRT’ monitors, for flat monitors and laptops, for system units and for keyboards. The ecological requirements are included in a separate report. The report for flat monitors and laptops contains requirements for visual ergonomics (legibility and stability of picture), for radiation and energy saving, for electrical safety and for noise.
