| | The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress
The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress is a multidisciplinary network of professionals working with trauma survivors. Among other aims, they attempt to devise useful standards for those working with survivors.
Among other interesting features of the site, the Academy has compiled a guide entitled A Practical Guide for Crisis Response in Our Schools, a number of sections of which have also been published on the site, as well as Parent Guidelines for Crisis Response and Teacher Guidelines for Crisis Response and other publications. These explain what a crisis, crisis consultation and crisis plan are, possible reactions of children to a crisis, how alarming symptoms can be recognised and how children can be helped.
