Youth in Agriculture is a webtool from the USA's Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA). Agriculture is apparently the most dangerous sector in the US and is also a major employer of young people. This site therefore attempts to give some tailored safety and health advice to what is already a vulnerable group working in a high risk sector. Although aimed at young workers in the US, the content is by and large also of use for non-Americans.
The site is organised into thematic headings. These can be accessed either by clicking on the words or by clicking on images within a 'typical farm scene' on the main page.
Each of the main headings links to a fiche on the theme containing:
- interesting facts
- case study information (youth fatalities in agriculture)
- solutions for young people
- solutions for employers
- links to additional information
