Working can be fun; it provides many life experiences for the working teen. The U.S. DOL wants that the on-the-job experience be a safe and healthy learning experience. This industry section of the U.S. DOL Youth2Work site provides valuable information to employers, and to the working teen, on job areas frequently worked by teens as allowed under the (US)law.
The site is divided in 4 main sections: Youth Safety, Youth Industry, Youth rules, Youth careers
The section Youth Industry summarizes labor laws, worker safety, and career options. It presents two e-tools, one about agriculture, another about safety in restaurants.
Youth Safety is a site for teen worker safety and health information provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). His mission is to help teen stay healthy and safe while on the job. Whether they work part-time, full-time, over the summer for a few extra bucks, or the entire year.
The resources on the section Youth rules site will help you understand what hours and jobs teens can work. On the Safety & Health page, employers will find advice for preventing workplace injuries to young workers.
