RISMAN - Risicomanagement en risico-analyse voor projecten

The RISMAN method is a risk management method that has been successfully applied in the Netherlands in Ministry of Waterways and Public Works projects. In 1992, a joint venture was entered into between various Dutch government agencies, local government organisations and academic institutions (Gemeentewerken Rotterdam, NS Railinfrabeheer, RWS Bouwdienst, RWS Directie Zuid-Holland, TU Delft and Twijstra Gudde) in which developments in the RISMAN method have been pursued. Using the RISMAN method, risks are systematically analysed from various vantage points, and relevant risk-management measures identified. The RISMAN method consists of four steps: setting the goal, defining the risks, determining the most important risks and, finally, defining the management measures. Conducting a RISMAN analysis involves using a number of tools such as a risk matrix, diagrams and calculation programmes. Interestingly, reference is made to a number of software programmes (benamingen) that may be of assistance when conducting a RISMAN risk analysis.
