The “Vlaamse instelling voor Technologisch onderzoek” (VITO, Flemish institute for technological research), is the Flemish institution for technological research. It offers multidisciplinary assistance to enterprises and to authorities that are specialized in applied research & development.VITO is active in the following domains: energy, environment and materials. As a partner, VITO fulfills national and international research missions for regional, national or European research projects or knowledge transfer projects. It also carries out specialized research on the demand of industrial enterprises or public authorities.The most interesting tool of the site is without any doubt the "environmental navigator” EMIS. It allows you to consult Flemish legislation about the environment (MER, Vlarem, Vlarea, "). It is an indispensable tool for the environment coordinator or for anyone who is professionally concerned with the environment. You can also find BBT-reports (“Best Beschikbare Technieken”: best available techniques). These reports are meant for specific industries, so that they use the less polluting techniques in their production process. The library can also be consulted online.
