This is an Austrian initiative, presented by the Austrian General Accident Insurance Institute (AUVA), the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour (AK Oesterreich) and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO). The site provides a guide for risk analysis in the workplace. It gives a description of roughly 400 workplaces. The user can either search freely or search by “job” (an alphabetical list of jobs), “branch” or “key word”. A choice can be made between an HTML version and a Flash version (i.e. video film). The basic evaluation looks at the interactions between man and technology and man and the environment. A summary of the most significant danger(s) and solutions is appended in Word format. The site also contains several general checklists. These checklists cover chemical, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other physical hazards, as well as environmental factors (climate, lighting, heat/cold, etc.), first aid and mental and physical stress. These forms can be printed out once the date and the name of the person who performed the risk analysis have been entered, so that they can be stored in files (electronically or otherwise).
A separate section is devoted to work which is prohibited or permitted to a limited extent for children and young people. Another section is devoted to integrated management, based on ISO 9001 and ISO 9004, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, EMAS, etc.. Within this context, the general principles and some checklists are provided.
Target Audience: Occupational physicians, occupational hygienists
