CartoonBase is a Belgian Internet initiative to make cartoons available. Cartoonists and comic strip artists who have produced cartoons and comic strips for larger companies are now making them more widely available through a general catalogue. The catalogue can be searched by subject and by name of the artist/cartoonist. The drawings can be looked at on the screen and then downloaded for internal use in newsletters, etc. The user pays for the number of results downloaded. Subscriptions can be obtained, as well as licenses for distribution or resale. Some of the subjects are: order and tidiness in the office and factory, ladders and stairs, machines, hazardous substances, scaffolding, transport, forklift trucks, fire and alarms, first aid, PBM, signs, accidents, personal hygiene, environment, specific professions and branches of industry.
