Major Hazard Accidents Bureau (MAHB)
The ‘Major Accident Reporting System’ (MARS) is a European network consisting of 15 local databases, one from each Member State of the European Union. The network supports Directorate-General XI (Environment, nuclear safety and protection of the population) of the European Commission with regard to the implementation of the Seveso II Directive 96/82/EC. The database contains accident reports about some 370 major accidents. Access to the registration and information system is open to government departments, professional federations, trade unions, non-governmental organisations and other international or research institutes in the field.
